Stormy water after heavy rain on hill-side of Naugarh |
Climate of the district is almost of the subtropical monsoon type. The month of December and January are cold one when the westerly and north-westerly winds blow. Sometime it extends up to march as well, followed by winter winds. Normally from one month of March, mercury stars shooting up which sets in hot weather. Towards the end of June, the rising temperature reaches its peak when monsoon commences to give some relief. That continues upto September from October onwards night starts gradually cooling down but days are brighter and sunny. In fact October to November are transitional months when the weather is pleasant i.e. neither too hot nor too cold. August is the month when rainfall is maximum. The average annual rainfall is 1019 m.m. The climate of the district is ideal for health and mostly dry. The month of May and June are hotter.
