The District Chandauli was come in the existence in 1997 with the order-consent of the then-chief Minister of the state Sushri Mayawati ji via the order from Uttar Pradesh Government, Section-5, Order No.-1436/1-5-97,102/97-ra.5 on 25th May 1997 (Sunday), Vaishakh 4, Shak Samvat-1919 in which it was clearly stated that the Tehsils Chakia, Sakaldiha and Chandauli (except the villages Domari & Soojabad of ‘Ralhupur’ pargana) of Varanasi District will now be the part of this new named Chandauli district.

The District is located in 24”56’ to 25”35’ to north and 81”14’ to 84”24’ east at a distance of about 30 km.’s east-south-east of Varanasi. It is bounded on east by Bihar State, on the north-north-east of Ghazipur District, South of Sonebhadra District, South-east of Bihar and South-west Mirzapur. The district is situated in the eastern and southern side of holy river ‘Ganga’.
